12 Hints To Be Prepared for Move Day

Hint 1-

Start early. For every level of your home, give yourself one week to pack. If you own a two-story home, please start packing at least two weeks before moving. This helps you to be better organized. Contact us for additional boxes, mattress covers, dryer vent ducts, or extra materials that you may need upon our arrival.

Hint 2-

Pack the heavier items (books) into smaller boxes. Watch the weight as you wouldn’t want to overpack boxes. Don’t underpack a box, either. Make sure that all boxes are taped/closed and that breakable items don’t rattle in the box. Be sure to pack your small lamps and electronics into boxes.

Hint 3-

Label/Color coordinate boxes by the room that they will go to in the new home. Kitchen can be yellow stickers, Dining room can be green, and master bedroom can be blue. This is just for example. It helps your movers to not have to ask where a box goes. This saves us time, which saves you money. The more organized you are the more organized your move.

Hint 4-

Keep the walkways and driveways clear. It’s safer for movers when the areas are clutter free. This goes for kids, pets, vehicles & any loose items.

Hint 5-

Put your extremely valuable items away, especially if they won’t be handled by movers. Purses, jewelry, etc should be kept away. We are men of God and we can be trusted, but certain customers feel overwhelmed when there are swift moving people handling their goods.

Hint 6-

It’s okay to leave clothes in dresser drawers. Please remove any heavy, fragile, breakable, or extremely valuable items from your drawers, though. Furniture is already heavy enough without the collection of magazines, stone pillars, and photo albums in your dresser drawers.

Hint 9-

Keep important items like toilet paper handy and in place. You’d be amazed at the look on a face when they realize the restroom boxes were placed on the truck an hour ago.

Hint 10-

Stay in contact with the lead mover during the move and with the office prior to the move.
